A few weeks ago I introduced you to a teeny man named David. He had gotten his hands on an old watch that he was told had the power to shrink him. Of course he didn’t believe it, but now that he’s a teeny man he’s had to learn to adapt to his new life.
At first, the experience was terrifying. David quickly realized he couldn’t reach his phone to call for help or do much of anything to get out of this situation. But after a while, his curiosity of what it will be like now that’s he’s small overcame fear.
Teeny Man
He explored his apartment like an adventurer in a land of giants, climbing shelves and finding crevices he’d never noticed before. All of his furniture looked like skyscrapers to him now. As the days turned into weeks, David adapted to his miniature existence. He rigged up a system to communicate with his pet, Whiskers, who was now his sole companion. They became friends in this strange, altered reality.
But he longed for a way to return to his normal size. He retraced his steps to the antique store, now a daunting journey for a teeny man. The shopkeeper explained that to regain his original size, David needed to press the button again and focus on his desire to become big again. With determination, David did just that. Then the world around him expanded, and he returned to his full size. It was a huge relief to be ordinary again.
The experience, though surreal, had changed him though. David had seen the world from a new perspective and appreciated the wonders of the everyday. He realized that life was not as mundane as he had once thought, and his adventures as a tiny man would stay with him forever. He put the pocket watch on a high shelf and told himself that his tiny days were over. But once you’ve experienced shrinking it never leaves you and you will desire it again. And that’s exactly what happened to David as he found himself reaching once again for the magical watch. Craving the excitement of being small all over again.
