Being a lonely housewife, living in a big plantation house, on a big plantation lot in Charleston and having it decorated for the holiday means, my never at home husband, hired a crew to come do the work needed around the house. The older man in charge of the crew, Mr. Hardon pulled me aside to explained that some of his workers were on work release from the local prison. However, he assured me that they were all well-mannered, but I should stay in the house and try not to be left alone with any of them.
“Some of these fellas, ain’t been around a woman in months, maybe years, and I wouldn’t want them to think a sweet lady like yourself, Ms. Molly, was available. That could lead to all kinds of mayhem, a good southern gal like yourself could get hurt.”
