Jeff was sitting alone at the bar, his expression a mixture of angst and fear. His hair was disheveled and it looked like he hadn’t shaved in a few days. “A seltzer with a slice of fresh lemon” I said to the bartender taking a seat next to my pigeon. Jeff looked over at me not saying a word. “Not in the mood to talk huh Jeff?”
My drink came and I said to the bartender, “Thanks lover, put it on Silent Sam’s tab over here okay?” I took a sip, it was cold and crisp. “The pause that refreshes right Jeff? What are you having, something nice and feminine like a Strawberry Daiquiri?” He didn’t seem amused.
“You can’t get away with this,” Jeff said. “This is like a damn shake down!” Letting a little laugh slip out, I said, “Actually Jeff, that’s exactly what it is. And I can and will get what I want. You see I always get what I want.” I took another sip of my drink. “Face it girlfriend, I own you.”
