It’s finally happening…
The heavy oak door of his office clicked shut behind me, the sound echoing in the sudden, profound silence. It was just us. The air was thick with the scent of old books and his cologne, something rich and woodsy that made my head spin. I clutched the pretense of my failed exam paper in my hand, the crisp edges digging into my sweaty palm. He didn’t say a word at first, just leaned back against the edge of his large mahogany desk, crossing his arms. His gaze was intense, a physical weight that traveled down my body, lingering on the swell of my breasts beneath my thin blouse and the hem of my skirt that suddenly felt far too short.
When he finally spoke, my name was a low rumble that vibrated through the floorboards. He pushed off the desk and took a single step toward me, closing the distance until I could feel the warmth radiating from his body. He gently took the crumpled paper from my hand and tossed it aside, his fingers lingering against mine for a fraction of a second too long.
