You walked into my office, your heart pounding in your chest. I was your doctor, Mercedes, and you were my patient, coming in for a routine exam. But as you sat down on the examination table, your mind was racing with thoughts that had nothing to do with your health.

“So, what brings you in today?” I asked, my voice smooth and professional.

“Just a regular check-up,” you replied, trying to keep your voice steady.

I nodded and began the exam, starting with the usual questions about your medical history. But as I moved on to the physical exam, I could see the nervousness in your eyes. I placed my hand on your shoulder, trying to reassure you.

“Relax,” I said softly. “I’m just going to do a quick prostate exam. It won’t take long.”
